It's not time to forget whats important. Use your senior year to apply to colleges and improve your ACT score. Don't get sloppy when you're at the finish line.
College Applications and Scholarships
Guidance will provide available scholarships as they are received by the guidance department.
TOPS: To be TOPS eligible, a student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and an ACT score of at least 20. Also, the students must complete the 17.5 TOPS core classes.
College Applications: Most colleges and university prefer that you register online. If you have not applied to the college(s) of your choice, please do so immediately.
Transcript Requests: If you would like for a transcript or ACT scores to be sent to a college on your behalf, please see Mrs. White in Guidance.
NCAA Clearinghouse: If you plan to play a collegiate sport, you must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse. Information is available in the Guidance office. You may register online at the following address: www.ncaaclearinghouse.net
America's Milk Processors and USA TODAY are pleased to bring you the 12th annual "Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year" (SAMMY) 2009 Award Program. The SAMMY award recognizes outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12 from high schools throughout the United States. Winners receive a $7,500 college scholarship; a weekend at Walt Disney World, and an opportunity to appear in a Milk Mustache ad in USA Today. Check the guidance bulletin board for more information.

The Award of Excellence Scholarship Program to provide college scholarships for asthmatic students.
This scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors only.
AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP
AXA Achievement Community Scholarship program will award up to $750, 000 worth of scholarships to ambitious high school seniors who have the ability to succeed in college. Download an application for a $2,000 college scholarship at www.axa-achievement.com. Information is available on the guidance bulletin board. Applications are due by Feb. 15th, 2009.
CLAIBORNE ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE, INC.
The Claiborne Electric Cooperative, Inc., will randomly draw for two (2) $1,000 scholarships during the Claiborne Electric annual membership meeting on April 18th. The drawing is open only to college-bound high school seniors who are Claiborne Electric members or who are children of Claiborne Electric members. Entry forms are available in Mrs. White's office. Completed applications should be delivered to Claiborne Electric by Wednesday, April 15th.
The DHS Scholarship and Fellowship Program is intended for sutdents interested in pursuing the basic science and technology innovations that can be applied to the DHS mission.

The Horatio Alger Association Scholarship Program awards more tha $7 million in college scholarships and grants to students throughout the nation who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perserverance in overcoming personal adversity. Check the poster on the guidance bulletin board for more information. Applications must be submitted online before April 15th, 2009.

Scholarships for children of Louisiana workers who have been killed or permanently disabled
Compensable under a state or federal Workers' Compensation Act or law.
Depending on how long you enlist with the Army and the job you choose, you can get up to $72,900 to help pay for college. Under the Montgomery GI Bill, reservists can receive over $7,000 for educational assistance. S. TRUMAN SCHOLARSHIP
Provides up to $30,000 in funding to students pursuing graduate degrees in public service fields. Students must be college juniors at the time of selection.
Q: Do students have to attend a UNCF member college to receive financial support?
A: No. UNCF has financially supported students at about 950 colleges across the country, including almost all public and private historically black colleges and universities, and other schools including Harvard, Princeton and MIT.
